What is a Kamayan?

We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a kamayan celebration at Cloud and Spirits in Cambridge. The event will be on August 29th at 5:00PM, 7:00PM, and 9:00PM, as well as August 30th at 5:00PM and 7:00PM. Each kamayan experience will last anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours. 

A kamayan is one of the Philippines’ most beloved dining traditions. The word kamayan comes from the Filipino word kamay, which means “hand,” because guests traditionally eat with their hands instead of utensils. Attendees should expect a Filipino meal with multiple courses laid out beautifully on banana leaves. More than just a way of eating, this is a celebration of community and an opportunity to bond with loved ones while enjoying delicious Filipino classics. 

If you have never tried Filipino food before, attending a kamayan is a great introduction. You will get to enjoy multiple courses featuring a variety of flavors while learning about a tradition that has brought communities together for generations.

The full menu will be announced closer to the event, but guests can expect a variety of savory Filipino favorites. Each dish is made with the same fresh ingredients and passion that we bring to all of our events.

In order to attend, you can reserve a table for you and your friends or family using the Eventbrite link below. Seating is limited, so we encourage everyone to book early. Please note that you must purchase a minimum of four tickets per table for this event and the full menu will be revealed closer to the event date on our Instagram (@kuyascooking).
